A singer-songwriter from the Canadian prairies, I enjoy entertaining others in live settings, especially when I can get them to sing along.
I also help to manage the Regina Songwriters Group--run by the generous folks at SaskMusic--by keeping the online presence up to date and occasionally connecting fellow songwriters to gigs.
Lyrics matter to me, and my tunes, when they aren't love songs, often tell stories that involve characters under stress as a result of current events or historical situations. Many of these tales are humorous, others tragic. My characters are often fictitious, but I try to make them relatable, and their situations are generally grounded in fact.
With this in mind, I have created a show that I like to call "History and Other Nonsense." It's a combination of my original songs--an eclectic and often humorous mixture that includes folk, blues, rock, and country, along with covers of some traditional tunes I like. I have arranged these songs as a romp through the sands of time, from prehistoric days to recent news events.
A retired English teacher, I have had the pleasure of leading student and adult folk groups for years. Now that I have more time for writing my own songs (something I have enjoyed since my teens), I have also started to record my music using LogicPro X.
I hope that you will join me in a musical celebration of the courage and complexity of our strangers and cousins.
